Amidst the hardships and challenges that 2023 has brought to our neighborhoods, the TIS Foundation (To Inspire Strong Families and Communities) is back, reaffirming its commitment to unite the community under one noble cause: ensuring that no one goes hungry this Thanksgiving. They well hold an annual turkey drive and luncheon on November 14th and 15th.

Black-owned, DC Capitol Square Bar & Grill an Chef James ‘JR’ Robinson, who recently stepped into a new role as Executive Chef and Managing Partner, are supporters of therse community initiatives.

Chef JR and the team at DC Capitol Square Bar & Grill will prepare a delicious lunch for returning citizens, seniors, homeless vets, deserving families and vulnerable youth in the heart of DC and Prince George’s County.

TIS Foundation hosts its Annual Turkey Drive & Luncheon in two different locations

• Tuesday, Nov. 14, 11 a.m. to  2 p.m. at DC Capitol Square Bar & Grill (1500 E. Capitol, NE); and

• Wednesday, Nov. 15, 11 a.m. to  2 p.m., at 1441 McCormick Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD.

“This year’s gathering isn’t just another charity event. It’s a community call to action,” the Tis Foundation wrote in a press release. The luncheon aims to provide a hot meal and opportunity to break bread and be served by other neighbors who truly care.

“It’s more than food; it’s about sending a message that every individual matters,” the foundation wrote. “The joy of giving, especially during these trying times, creates ripples of positivity.”
