Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 7B announced that complications with technology mean that the meeting scheduled for Friday, March 20 has been cancelled.
Vice Chair Tiffany L. Brown wrote that while ANC 7B had hoped to have the meeting via a conference call, commissioners had difficulty securing a Web service that the entire community would have been able to participate in.
An in-person meeting was also ruled out, likely because of encouragement from the Mayor and DC Health to avoid non-essential gatherings.
On Tuesday, March 17, DC Council passed emergency legislation related to the COVID-19 outbreak. It provides additional flexibility and authority to the government, including allowing elected officials to meet and vote virtually. The legislation also allows groups such as ANCs or government boards to meet virtually, but they are not be obligated to meet during a public health emergency at all.
“We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have presented,” Brown wrote. “Look for information concerning a meeting in the near future.”
