The Washington Mystics are the 2019 WNBA Champions! Join them Friday afternoon at their new home arena to celebrate their first finals win.

The team won the final game in the five-game championship series by a score of 89-78 to take the series versus the Connecticut Sun. The Mystics trailed at the end of the third quarter, but outscored the Sun 27-14 to take the game and the series. Small Forward Elena Delle Donne played with three herniated disks but nonetheless contributed 21 pounds and nine rebounds. Finals MVP Emma Meesemann scored 22 points in the game.

It is the first title for the 22-year-old Mystics, who went to their first finals last year, losing in three to the Seattle Storm.

Celebrate with the team today, Friday, October at the Entertainment and Sports Arena (1100 Oak St. SE), the new home court the team opened in June of this year.

Come out from 2:00-4:00 PM to celebrate with players and coaches before they head out of town to join their respective international teams. Admission is free and all are welcome. The closest metro station is Congress Heights.
