Giant Food invites neighbors to ‘The Great Ward 8 Fall Fest’, a day focused on community fun and nutritional education.
The event is a re-grand opening celebration to recognize the Alabama Avenue Giant Food store’s refresh, the new Congress Heights Wellness Space, and Giant’s commitment to the health of the Ward 8 community.
The Congress Heights Wellness Space is home to various nutrition education classes, fitness classes, and other wellness programming to benefit the community. As part of the Fall Fest, Jillian Griffith, the Congress Heights Giant’s nutritionist, will be onsite with Giant’s full in-store nutritionist team to answer questions as well as educate families on healthier food choices. The team will also be demonstrating health food recipes with accompanying recipe booklets and ingredients for families to try at home.
In addition to healthy food demonstrations, the fitness zone will host various exercise classes, including a senior fitness session and high energy workout classes for the whole family to participate. For the little ones who will join the fun, a Kids Zone with face painting, gourd painting and a moon bounce will be available.
Giant’s Pharmacy will be onsite providing free health screenings and flu shots to the community, in addition to Giant’s community partners who will be providing additional wellness resources.
