It’s again time to celebrate the community at Ward 7 Day! The festival will take place 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept 14th at Idea Public Charter School (1027 45th St. NE).

The festival will include family activities, free food, and giveaways of school supplies and uniforms while supplies last. Performances include Ward 7’s own Chelly the MC, the East of the River Stell Band, the Side by Side Band and the NE Performing Arts group.

The event will be emceed by JusPaul, with Music from DJ Flava of 93.9 FM.

The festival is annually presented by Councilmember Vincent Gray (Ward 7-D), this year in conjunction with Sibley Memorial Hospital, the Ward 7 Business Partnership, Washington DC Economic Partnership, the East River Family Strengthening Collaborative.

Ward 7 Day builds on roots as a street fair and cultural tour. The annual festival has evolved into a showcase of business, arts, culture and fun in Ward 7.

At last year’s festival, residents took the opportunity to reunite with friends and meet new ones. There were family-friendly activities, including moon bounces, bicycle riding with DC Parks and Recreation, balloon-animals from Youthful Diversions and bingo in the Riverside Recreation Center. The Office of Councilmember Vincent Gray handed out more than 300 backpacks to children for back-to-school.

Join the fun! The festival is free and open to all.
