On Sept. 23, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Anacostia Community Museum curator and author Alcione Amos leads an informative bus tour that provides an overview of Barry Farm and Hillsdale. Tracing their beginnings in the mid-19th century as a settlement for post-Civil War African Americans to today’s close-knit African American neighborhood, the tour includes Elvans Road, the Old Anacostia Market and Douglass House, the site of Fort Stanton, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and Barry Farm dwellings.
